Sophomores learned about purchasing a class ring on Jan. 25, during their English classes. A spokesman from Herff Jones, an online class ring company, came to speak about the online ordering process and the days in February the company will be returning to FHN, to pick up orders from students. This was an informational presentation to help sophomores understand how to personalize and purchase their class ring.

“The ring ceremony was actually pretty interesting because there was a bunch of ring varieties to choose from,” sophomore Melanie Swengross said.

During the ring ceremony, the spokesman talked about the different styles, designs and colors of rings that can be bought. There are opportunities to custom design a ring with your name, birthstone or activity of choice. The sophomores were given a magazine to look through towards the end of the ceremony, along with paperwork to take home and fill out if interested in purchasing a ring.

“I thought that the ring designs were appealing and I will most likely be purchasing a ring custom made to fit my personality,” sophomore Kate Bascio said. “I mainly liked the rings designed for girls.”

The sophomores were given information about the Herff Jones company returning to the school on Feb. 3 and 4, to sell the rings to students and their families. The company will also be having a delivery breakfast in the spring for those who purchase rings. At the breakfast, students will not only receive their class rings, but: a mini-ring, a ring t-shirt and a gift box.

“I enjoyed the ring ceremony because my sister has a ring from her high school and I would like to get myself a ring to look back on my memories of high school,” sophomore Eddie Wilson said.
