Sleep Affects Teens’ Lives

Lack of sleep has been an increasing problem among teens. Students are staying up late playing sports, participating in clubs, working on homework and using technology when they should be sleeping. Teens are supposed to get 9 to 9.5 hours of sleep per night. This video shows how a typical teen’s week is due to the lack of sleep experienced each night. Students typically start the week on the most sleep out of school nights. Lack of sleep can cause major problems to one’s life. When one becomes sleep deprived they experience being less focused, feeling depressed, being more prone to accidents, a lowered immune system, weight gain, decreased attention span and tiredness. Students should try to get as much sleep as possible to avoid the negative impacts of sleep deprivation.
