“Logan Lucky” is a comedy crime film that centers around two brothers named Jimmy and Clyde Logan. Due to desperate times, they attempt to pull off a heist during a NASCAR race in North Carolina.

This film is one of the best films of 2017 so far, and one of the funniest laugh-out-loud movies in years.

The acting is hands down the best thing about this film. Every actor and actress gave their performance with everything they had. However, the MVP of this movie is Adam Driver, who plays Clyde Logan. He read every line of dialogue perfectly, gave his character brilliant mannerisms, and he used the dry humour of his character perfectly to his advantage.

Speaking of humour, it can be very tricky when it comes to writing a film, but “Logan Lucky” had no problem with it. The screenwriter, Rebecca Blunt, is a genius. The dry humour, mixed with goofy, unorthodox characters, was an incredible formula. Blunt also did a brilliant job with the story. It was complex, but straightforward at the same time; it had no plot holes, but it still left you thinking when you walked out of the theatre.

The editing and cinematography was also really good. It was nice how they used very simple, straightforward edits and shots to keep a consistent tone throughout the film.

Although the script and everything in the film was spectacular, the real gem in this movie was the direction. Director Steven Soderbergh, who also directed the “Ocean’s Eleven” franchise, is seriously talented. The way he took a heist story to another completely different level was really amazing. This movie is definitely Soderbergh’s best piece of work.

This year has been kind of weak for the cinema so far, but this film clearly shifts 2017 into higher gear. Soderbergh and Blunt really created something unique with “Logan Lucky.”
