This year’s softball season started and is already off to a great start. Assistant Coach Mike Freedline says this season the team is already doing better than last year, which ended with a record of 15-8.

“The team has been practicing all summer to get ready,” Freedline said.

All the training has been paying off for the team.

“We won our first two games, we played perfect defense in both of them,” Freedline said.

Softball player Lily St. John thinks the team will make real progress this year.

“I think honestly so far this year we are playing good, but not to our full potential yet,” she said. “I’m sure that if we all got our heads on straight we could be even better in future games.”

Freedline mentions that this year looks very promising compared to last year and thinks the team is going to do great.

The team has a lot to look forward to this year including going to state, getting new players and having eight seniors on the team.

Although the team has been doing good Freedline says the team might struggle with staying consistent in games.

According to Freedline the team has a lot of gems including Elizabeth Davis, Janae Watkins, Skylar Ruiz and Sahara Pauley

With their solid batting and great playing they are a big reason for the season’s current wins.

“We have a great team and a great shot to win a lot of games this year,” Freedline said.
