For the second year in a row, Student Council is hosting a tailgate before the Homecoming game. The tailgate is on Friday, Sept. 22 in the upper soccer practice field starting at 5 p.m, before the football game.

“Student Council is providing food like hot dogs, chips and drinks, as well as running the game bubble soccer,” Student Council Vice-President and Homecoming Tailgate Committee chair Grant Freitas said.

Many other clubs are getting involved this year and running activities during the tailgate. National Honor Society is running a booth with games of Giant Jenga, Spike Ball and Washers. Knightsound is setting up a game of musical chairs and selling FHN tumblers to raise money for the choir program. DECA is making a cake walk and offering face painting and temporary tattoos. Finally, HOSA is having a booth with puppies and kittens from a local animal organization and collecting donations that will raise money for homeless animals.

“Knightsound decided to participate, because I think it will be a great opportunity to get involved, have fun and support the school,” choir teacher Jennifer Crane said.

Student Council Sponsor Jani Wilkens has helped facilitate Freitas, and Student Council President Jamie Sneed, set up the tailgate by being a point of contact for the outside companies and other club sponsors participating in the tailgate.

“I am really looking forward to all the other clubs participating, and I am excited about seeing all the puppies and kittens from the animal organization,” Wilkens said.
