The boys basketball team fell to Timberland in an away game on Friday, February 2. The Knights played sound defense keeping the Wolves close through the whole game with an ending score of 79-70.

“We have been working on defense in practice a lot and it really showed in the game because we have been holding teams to fewer points,” said junior forward Drew Scheer.

Scheer led the team in defense by securing eight rebounds, closely followed by Anthony Hople bringing down six rebounds for the Knights.

On the offensive side, Justin Mathews-Williams led the Knights in scoring with 23 points, shooting him up to fifth on the leading score chart on STLhighschoolsports.com with 394 total points and averaging 24.6 points a game. Justin was closely followed by Miles Montgomery and Anthony Hople who each put up 22 and 20 points respectively. Montgomery and Hople were supported by senior Rizwan Hyder who held a 100.0 FG%.

Though they did not come out with a win, Scheer is still pleased with how the team played with one another.

“We had good ball movement and worked well together.” Scheer said. “We played as a team.”

He looks on to their next game tonight, where the boys will take on Fort Zumwalt West, seeking to improve their game as a whole.

“We need to improve our overall game, playing a more complete game from start to finish,” Scheer said.
