The Prom Fashion Show is an annual event that is produced around the time before prom. This year the show was held on Feb. 28 at 7 p.m, in the auditorium. The show’s funds go to the payments for prom like: decor, food, music, etc. The show is all planned by Junior Delegates and their sponsor Marissa Heyer. Heyer has been teaching at FHN for 6 years and has been doing the show since her first year.

“I absolutely love having juniors and seniors model and supporting local businesses,” Heyer said.

Heyer starts the planning for the show in December in order to have everything set up and ready on time. First, she starts contacting stores that sell tuxedos and prom dresses, asking them if they would like to work with her and to coordinate their tuxedos and dresses with the show in order to advertise their products. The stores that are being used this year were Savvi, David’s Bridal and Camille La Vie. Then, Heyer holds informational meetings for the models and then hosts the show rehearsal the day before the show.

“I picked David’s Bridal, because they always have really cute dresses and they have a wide variety to pick from,” junior model Brittany Skeen said.

The first thing that the models need to do is make an appointment with the local stores that have the dresses, then they try on dresses and pick which one that they want to model. A consultant of the store then puts the dress on hold, then the dresses are brought to FHN for the time of the show. The models are also in charge of selling tickets for the show, this year the cost was five dollars.

“I sold some of my tickets to my family and the others to my friends, because I was really nervous for the show and wanted their support,” junior model Skyler Hance said.

In order to participate in the show you must be either a junior or a senior. The models are paired up with an escort, while they are modeling. Later in the show there is also a talent portion of the show where the models and escorts get to show off any special talent that they have. Along with that there are raffles that are given out at the end of the show, the prizes ranged from gift cards, to a free tuxedo rental and a free Prom ticket.
