Drama Club Trivia Night Returns Oct. 5

From questions on naming a potato chip flavor to questions with translating famous movie quotes out of Shakespearean English, students participating in the Drama Club trivia night have always had to stay on their toes to answer a variety of, mainly theater-related, questions.

On Friday, Oct. 5, Drama Club will host their third annual trivia night in the Commons. Beginning at 7 p.m, students will compete to win the grand prize: a Hollywood-themed basket full of movies and free tickets to their show, “You Can’t Take it with You.” Each table can have up to eight people, with each table costing $50. The trivia night will also consist of 10 rounds of 10 questions each, a desert auction and raffle.

“It is really fun,” Director of Theater Arts Kim Sulzner said. “The rounds are actually really interesting. We try to set them up so they’re not super hard, so some of [the questions] are definitely more kid oriented, where the students are like bam, bam, bam, got all the answers, and adults have to think. Then there’s a couple rounds where the kids are like ‘wait, I don’t remember that.’ It’s just fun. If you’ve never done a trivia night, it’d be a good place to start.”

All of the profits from the trivia night will go towards the cost of the state thespian conference, where drama club students can participate in the Improv Olympics, compete in the Tech Challenge, watch shows or attend a variety of workshops. Without the trivia night, the cost of attending the conference would be significantly higher for each student.

“Students should attend trivia night, because it’s just all around a fun night,” Drama Club President Riley Lawson said. “You can win prizes, you can win food, which is especially important if you’re a student. And, also, you can win bragging rights because we have several teacher groups competing and if you can beat them, then, just saying, that’d be pretty cool.”
