Set for Oct. 25, family networking night is an event where families can go to talk to other families and seek advice. On this night, problems are crowd sourced to find the best solution. The topics talked about can range from school related all the way to home difficulties. The event will be held in the FHN commons from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

“The idea is just to keep tapping into the resources and information that our parents have,” Assistant Principal Erin Steep said.

So far FHN has held two successful family networking nights and Steep hopes to have more. The biggest difficulty Steep has faced with past family networking nights was getting the word out about the event and getting more families to attend. Families don’t even have to sign up in advance, they just need to show up and participate.

“It gives them a venue that they might not have had otherwise and access to information that they might not have otherwise,” Steep said.

Steep holds this event because she believes it is useful to parents and a good event for a school to have. It is a great way for families to connect and share information on a variety of topics. Her goal for future family networking nights is to increase attendance.

“I would encourage people to bring friends,” Steep said. “Bring anyone who is even remotely interested, because the more we have, the better it is.”
