The Girls Varsity Basketball team had a below average record last year finishing the season 6-20. The girls need to look to make some changes this season in order to obtain a winning record. One major change has already been put into place, as coach Thompson took a leave of absence last season. He left the girls on an 0-4 record, but with Coach Hahn taking over, then had a respectable record of 6-14. This shows promise and the Knights only graduated three seniors last year and none were in the starting lineup. Also, with the Knights returning seven seniors this year, this could be the first year the Knights have a record above .500, since 2016. Obviously, the leadership will be outstanding for this veteran team, but they will need to key in on other aspects that they were lacking last year. The girls bench could barely get anything going once the starting five had to take a breather, so they will need to look to find more depth in their 6th and 7th women. The Knights also need to work on one of the simplest aspects in basketball: free throws. The girls did an awful job at the charity stripe last season, shooting below 70%. Finally, the starters just need to develop as a whole because they are returning their top four scorers from last season in Gabby Delarue, 11.3 ppg., Hannah Wilson, 10.0 ppg., Isabelle Delarue, 9.6 ppg., and Maddie Stock, 8.5 ppg. So if these girls just put in the work in the off-season and work on the other things I mentioned, then the girls will be unstoppable this season.
