10. A Christmas Carol

Even though it’s at the bottom of the list, A Christmas Carol is a classic that shouldn’t be ignored. Starring Jim Carrey, we see Ebenezer Scrooge embark on a journey through time as 3 ghosts change his views of Christmas. This family movie is filled with laughs, great animation, and a nice message for anyone against the cheeriest time of the year.

9. Frosty the Snowman

Debuting in 1969, this animated film was about a snowman that was brought to life by a magical top hat. After teaming up with kids and defeating a evil man who tries to steal the hat, Frosty has to escape the heat before losing his jolliness. Frosty the Snowman is an adorable film that’ll have any kid trying to bring their snowman to life.

8. The Santa Clause

You would think only bad things would happen to you after killing Santa, but that’s not the case for Scott Calvin in The Santa Clause. After the incident, Scott in transported to The North Pole and becomes the new Santa. This hilarious movie should definitely be a family staple around the holidays.

7. Jack Frost

A heartfelt movie about a father and son, Jack Frost is about a father who dies on Christmas, but comes back as his son’s snowman. This movie really knows how to make you laugh and cry with it’s storyline.

6. Polar Express

Do you have your train ticket? Yet another animated film, Polar Express is about three kids who go on a mysterious train to The North Pole to meet Santa Clause. This movie has just about all a family movie needs: action, humor and a happy ending.

5. Elf

This movie is about a grown man who was raised by elves at the North Pole. He ventures off to NYC to find his real dad and explore life beyond the North Pole during Christmas. The story is pure, the characters are likable, and the humor is childish, but still appeals to adults.

4. A Christmas Story

With the most quotable lines out of all of these movies, A Christmas Story follows a young boy named Ralphie during Christmas as he fights off bullies, meets “Santa,” and dreams of an air rifle. This movie is a classic that everyone should see at least once.

3. Home Alone

A home invasion gone wrong, Home Alone is about an 8-year-old boy who was accidentally left at home while his family went on vacation and then two men come and try to break in, but little do the intruders know this boy is a lot smarter than he looks. Home Alone is an action-comedy that lands every joke and makes everyone want to take notes on the kid’s boobytraps.

2. How the Grinch Stole Christmas

An adaptation of the book written by Dr. Seuss, tells us a story of a mean and green man called the Grinch. He hates Christmas so much that he tries to steal the holiday away from citizens of Whoville. Jim Carrey’s incredible and crazy performance as The Grinch, and the adorable songs, make this movie an instant holiday favorite.

1. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

The craziest family comes together once again for Christmas in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. In this movie, the Griswold’s have a bit of bad luck when it comes to everything festive, whether it be putting up lights or decorating the Christmas tree. A light-hearted and goofy comedy just about sums this movie up with amazing effects throughout.
