On Jan. 15, Marvel Studios dropped the trailer for its long awaited movie Spider-Man: Far From Home. The Sequel of Spider-Man: Homecoming, the movie deals with the adventures of the superhero, portrayed by the British actor Tom Holland, around Europe.

European Scenario

As the title suggests, the protagonist is about to travel. Peter Parker gets his passport and jumps on an airplane headed to Europe. The trailer shows a few hints that make us infer the cities where the movie mainly takes place, such as the representative Tower Bridge in London or the famous gondolas and canals in Venice. In addition to those, analyzing the teaser post of the movie, the stickers on the superhero’s mask have been noticed showing Big Ben and Venice’s cathedral, plus stickers of Prague, Berlin and the Swiss flag. Will those cities be other destinations of our hero’s journey? Until more news is released, the only thing that can be done is to wait and see.

The Timeline:

The Marvel Universe timeline has always been highly twisted due to all the different and particular stories that every Marvel superhero has. To let the audience fully comprehend it, the company has always tried to release its movies in chronological order. For this reason, we can determine the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home takes place after Avengers: Endgame.

Nick Fury’s appearance:

“So, nice to finally meet you, Spider-Man,” the Colonel of S.H.I.E.L.D. Nick Fury said. Even though Spider-Man collaborated with The Avengers to defeat Thanos in the movies Avengers: Infinity War and possibly Avengers: End Game, Peter Parker had never worked with Fury. In the trailer, right after shooting Parker’s roommate with a sleeping dart, Fury officially presents himself to the superhero and proposes to him the idea to join S.H.I.E.L.D. to defeat “The Elementals.” Is Fury trying to create a new Avengers team? It’s definitely too soon to say.

New Partner: Mysterio

At the end of the trailer a new character was revealed. His name is Mysterio, and he is portrayed by Jake Gyllenhaal. For Mysterio, this will be his first appearance on the big screen, but in contrast with the comics on which the entire saga is based, this character is not presented as one on the protagonist’s enemies, but rather, Nick Fury assumes him to team up with Spider-Man to defeat The Elementals.

The New Enemy

The biggest question all the fans have asked themselves is: who is the antagonist showed in the trailer? Their single identities have not been revealed yet, but they represent a group of villains called The Elementals. Introduced by Marvel Comics in 1974, they hold the power of the four elements: air, earth, water and fire. Will our favorite spider defeat them? We’re going to have to wait until July 15 to find out.
