On Jan. 28, 2019 the Francis Howell North Knights took on Holt High School at home. The game was close throughout the entire 32 minutes, with Holt coming out on top by a score of 66-62. For the knights this is their fifth loss in a row.
“I thought we played the game very well, we were winning the first 31 minutes of the game but those last 2 minutes Holt just outplayed us,” Coach Darrell Davis said. “Our energy was very good, we ran good plays all night and played efficient but those last 2 minutes really killed us.”
The Knights were leading in points the entire game but the last 2 minutes they collapsed and fell into a hole.
“I feel like they were just the better team at the end of the day,” senior Anthony Hople said. “We should have won that game, if we would have played a little harder we would have won.”
The Knights will have a chance to get their revenge at Holt on Friday Feb. 1, 2019. Coach Davis hopes to get the win by improving their defense before the next matchup.
“We need to box out better on the defensive end. We let them get away on that part. We tried a 1-3-1 zone for part of the first half but switched it up to a 2-3 zone for the rest of the half,” Davis said. “That switch messed them up so we will enforce that constant switch of defense against them.”
