Five Places to Eat Before or After Homecoming

By Carson Ramirez, Online Managing Editor

There are many things that people need to plan for homecoming. One of the big things they have to figure out is where to eat before the big dance or where to go for a late night bite afterwards. After talking to a few students, these are a few places that FHN students like to go eat at for the dance:

1) Spiro’s

If you’re looking for a nice dining experience before you go to the dance Spiro’s is a great place to go. With authentic mediterranean food, Spiro’s offers items like steak, pasta, soups and gyros. There’s plenty of variety of food available for people with many different tastes. You’ll want to make sure you have a table reserved here before the night of homecoming though, so you can avoid any possible crowds that may arise.

“It’s just nice and fancy with good food,” junior Domonic Brown said. “My favorite thing there is the alfredo con broccoli.”

2) El Maguey

For authentic Mexican food, you’re going to want to head over to El Maguey. This is a great place to go if you want some good tacos, burritos or fajitas. They don’t have much outside of Mexican food if there’s someone in your group not interested, but if you are wanting mexican this is the spot to go to.

“They have some great free chips and salsa, a great price for cheese dip and you can get a whole bunch of chicken nachos for your friends,” senior Mario DeLapaz said. “I usually always get the super gigantic burrito. It’s the biggest burrito they have.”

3) Red Lobster

If you’re looking for seafood, Red Lobster is a good place to go to. With shrimp, fish, crab and lobster (obviously) they have plenty to fill any taste you have for seafood. If you’re going with some people that don’t like seafood they do have options that aren’t seafood like chicken fingers and breadsticks.

“It’s a really good place to eat,” senior Kyle Smith said. “My favorite thing there is the breadsticks.”

4) Fridays

For something a bit more casual, you can go over to TGI Fridays. You can still get good burgers, wings and ribs. It’s a good place to go if you want to sit down and not have fast food while still having more casual food, and it’s more affordable than other more fancy options.

“They’re just good, friendly zones for teens our age and nice eating places,” sophomore Briana Graphenreed said. “They’re not too pricey either.”

5) IHOP

For something a little bit different than the other restaurants on this list, IHOP is a place that stands out. Known as The International House of Pancakes, IHOP specializes in breakfast food that can help vary up your options of places to eat. Even though you’ll be eating dinner, breakfast food can be had for any meal of the day. If there’s anyone in your group that doesn’t want breakfast for dinner, IHOP has also added hamburgers onto their menu recently.

“IHOP is just fantastic,” senior Connor Pryor said. “You can get your pancakes there and it’s just all amazing.”
