October is the month for horror movies. Horror movies are all fine and good, but there are many horror comedies that are underappreciated. Ghostbusters, Shaun of the Dead, and Zombieland are all underappreciated films.

1984 blockbuster “Ghostbusters” stars Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, and Bill Murray as a team of scientists who lose their respected university jobs, so the men decide to form a team that hunts the supernatural. After stumbling upon a portal to another dimension, the Ghostbusters must save New York City from destruction.

“I love Bill Murray in this movie,” junior Nathan Vo said. “He is the best part.”

A horror comedy for more mature audiences, “Shaun of The Dead” is a British comedy from 2007, directed by Edgar Wright (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Baby Driver). The film follows Shaun, a 29-year-old slacker with a dead end job, who is living in London during a zombie outbreak. Shaun is tasked with protecting his mother, his best friend, and his girlfriend.

“I like it because it has horror and comedy,” junior Shane Teuscher said.

Yet another title for a more mature audience, “Zombieland” follows a group of four survivors who travel across zombie infested America together. The film stars Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson and Abigail Breslin. Zombieland follows our heroes as they find twinkies, meet Bill Murray, travel to an amusement park and slay zombies. Lots of zombies. The sequel, Zombieland: Double Tap is in theaters now.

“Jesse Eisenberg’s character is the best part of the film,” junior Brandon Bridgeman said.
