FHN experienced a snowy morning, making the parking lot a potentially dangerous place for student drivers. To remedy this, FHSD pushed the early release Wednesday back to the normal release at 2:20 p.m.

During sixth hour today, an announcement was made letting the students and faculty of FHN know that school will be released at 2:20 p.m. instead of 1:35 p.m., like originally planned due to the collaboration day. After-school sports were cancelled.

Sixth hour will end at 1:19 p.m. and seventh hour will end at 2:20 p.m., resulting in a near hour-long seventh hour.

This decision was made in part to give time for roads to clear and avoid crashes near the school. There had been threats of large amounts of snow since early this morning but school remained in-session as a normal early release day.

Students will remain in school longer due to the push-back of hour times, leading to potential scheduling issues with appointments, parent pick-ups or activities. This also leads to conflicts with virtual students, who may have to adjust to a different schedule for Zoom classes or an overlap with in-person classes getting out at a later time. If students need to leave early, their will be exceptions made so they can go to their prior engagements.
