Sugar beans is a coffee stop located at 2621 Muegge Rd, St. Charles. Their business started June 1, 2020 and they have been thriving ever since. Sugar beans is a place where people of all ages can go sit down, have a cup of coffee or a smoothie and to sit down with your friends and family. You can walk in and be greeted with a friendly face and enjoy your time there.

“I think one of the main things is that we promote kindness and that we hire anyone with disabilities and we have to expect kindness, I have promoted quite proudly and quite boldly,” Angel Ruiz, owner of Sugar Beans Coffee House, said. 

Bakery items change depending on what season it is and what the in-stock fruit is. In the summer it is strawberry bread, in the fall it is pumpkin bread and in the winter it is gingerbread. However, as for the holiday drinks, they have them all year round because they know people still like pumpkin spice lattes in the summer and will drink them all year round. 

“I think my favorite time at sugar beans was when I first found out it existed and I went with my friend and walking in and seeing all the people on their computers and how much sunlight it had and enjoyed the fact that they had a storage area for displaying the sweets and the  drinks and that,” Alumni Sarah Williams said. “[I] really liked the area that they had to edit down in front of the register  with the tic-tac-toe board,” Williams said.

 The coffee house is open Tuesday through Sunday. They accept people of all ages, genders, orientation and they try to be as welcoming as they possibly can be. They will hire anyone that is willing to put in effort to make Sugar Beans a happy and healthy environment for people to come in. They ask that you respect their space and make it a joyful environment for everyone and anyone that comes in. 

“Two drinks that are ordered the most are ‘oh dear’ and ‘hold your horses coffee’”, Christian Gee, manager of Sugar Beans Coffee House, said. 

Sugar beans is a place to go at any time of year. It might just become your favorite shop to get a coffee, smoothie, or another type of beverage. They have everything from cappuccinos. They have something for everyone even if you don’t drink coffee.
