At the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year Francis Howell North will be looking at a new system for Knight Time. During the upcoming school year, Knight Time will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays after third hour. On Tuesdays, Knight time can be used for club meetings and mentor led activities. Thursdays are more strictly for academic interventions. Students may travel to classes that they need to be in for academics. However, during these interventions there will be more structure than previous years.

“Every teacher has an individualized QR code that students will use to sign into a place that they have a pass to,” Mentor co-sponsor and teacher Jordyn Kiel said. “They can only travel to one place. Not jump around.”

The change in the Knight Time schedule was initiated this summer at a meeting with teachers and administrators while discussing improvements for the upcoming school year. Changing to this schedule will give students and teachers more time to build a community within their Knight Time. Furthermore, Knight Time this year is partially organized by interest groups so students may be with others who have similar interests to them.

“The purpose of that time of our school day is to give people a home base and to build a community that students feel welcome in,” Kiel said. “The extra time the groups will have together is enough to make the schedule change worth it.”
