The Effects of Extracurricular Activities on Students’ Mental Health

By Laney Quandt and Sassy Garcia

Many students participate in extracurricular activities throughout their high school career, but these activities can affect their mental health for the worst. To bring awareness to this situation, Sassy Garcia and Laney Quandt interviewed members of the FHN community to see how these activities affect mental health. In this video, coach Rowen Pugh, counselor Lorraine Smith, and students Colin Conley and Manisha Muthukaruppan share their personal experiences with activities and mental health. If you are struggling with mental health, call the mental health hotline, 988, or speak to a professional so you can become your best self.
