Brightflight scholarship changes

All of the students in Knightsound and a select few students in Concert Choir were picked to attend a singing workshop. This workshop, or ACappellooza, is held at the Touhill Performing Arts Center, on the campus of the University of Missouri at St. Louis.

“I’m excited for the kids,” choir teacher, Lorraine Smith said. “The ones who went last year learned a lot from it and I’m excited some new students will get a chance to learn from it as well.”

The men will be attending the workshop on Sept. 25. Currently, the girls are first on the waiting list and are hoping they get a chance to attend the workshop on the 26. The workshop goes from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.

“It’s a great experience and everyone should get to go,” senior Taylor Lane said. “There shouldn’t be a waiting list. But, hopefully we get to go.”

At the workshop, students are hoping to learn a lot about their hobby and skill. The workshops cost around $10 per person, but the choir boosters will be paying for FHN students to attend.

There will be a total of around 15 boys and 16 girls representing North. The grand total of choir students from the Greater St. Louis Area attending tops off at around 500 students.

“They are learning things while they perform,” Smith said. “They just get to work on music together as a group. The guys get to work on technique for guys, and the girls get to work on technique geared towards them. I think it will be very rewarding”
