“The kids get to see who’s involved in some of the sports off campus, such as golf and cross country,” sports announcer Mike Kenny said.
The event has grown over the ten years it has been here. It used to be a small gathering of eight or so booths outside the gym, but has become an extremely popular event at North with over 15 booths that circle the walkways of the track.
“My favorite part was the football area, because it had a dunking booth,” junior Sarah Lucero said.
The day consisted of a parade of athletes, sports scrimmages, and sales from the different groups. Students from each booth were walking around in the extreme heat trying to sell water, clothes, and toys. The sales went towards the groups’ expenses, and got people excited about the activities.
“Black and Gold day lets people get more school spirit,” junior Suong Nguyen said.
