It’s another day out of school on Tuesday, November 4. Most students are watching the news for updates, while others are casting in their vote for Barack Obama or John McCain. Students in Junior National Honor Society were involved with the elections in a different way.
“I worked for an hour. Some people started from eight or nine in the morning,” member Drew Barfield said.
JNHS helped work at polling areas, such as McClay Library. The polls were open from 6:30 a.m. until 7 p.m.
“We hopefully influenced voters to vote for the Francis Howell proposition,” Barfield said.
Initiated on the November 4 ballots is an option to favor or oppose the Francis Howell District borrowing money to renovate and improve schools, with Proposition B. District taxes would not be increased, and the loans would only be used for pre-arranged purposes. Francis Howell North would benefit with the addition of four new science lab rooms, two storage rooms, and a new set of restrooms. Another factor on the ballot is Missouri Propositon A. Taxes on casinos would increase and increased revenues would be given to public schools
