Prom Dresses for good deals

promdresses31410With several students’ proms coming up, many people have begun their search for the perfect dress, for that perfect night. One place to keep in mind is the Metro St. Louis Cinderella Project, which is selling all dresses for $25 at Chesterfield Mall, Mid Rivers Mall, South County Center, and West County Center.

“Counselors refer girls to us that can’t go to prom because their parents can’t afford it,” Diane Wolferding said. “For two weeks those girls got to come in a choose a dress with their own personal shoppers.”

Several girls all over the Metro St. Louis Area are now able to have a beautiful dress and experience prom night without having to worry about the cost.

“I think it is a great idea because it will make them feel like they aren’t being left out of anything, and they can go and have fun and not have to worry about the money factor,” junior Ashley Trautman said.

The store opened to the public on Mar. 13 until Mar. 23 and as a fund raiser they’re selling the dresses for $25 each. It’s completely nonprofit and all of the money goes to Community Counsil. They’ve collected 4,000 dresses this year, and it’s the first year they’ve opened actual stores in malls.

“I think it’s a really good idea, and it may make more people want to go to prom because a lot of people don’t normally want to go because they don’t want to spend like $200 on a dress,” senior Jamie Brannan said. “Now they can get a dress for a cheaper price.”
