*YEARBOOK PRICES INCREASE FEB. 1 – Yearbook prices for the 2013 Excalibur yearbook increase Feb. 1 to $65. Throughout the month of January, books can still be pre-ordered for their registration price of $55. After Jan. 31 though all books will go in price to $65. You can preorder a book with cash or check in the main office or in room 026. You can also order your book online with a credit card at: https://ybstore.friesens.com/stores/423728. If you’d like to see if you’ve purchased a yearbook already, you can check the list here: http://fhntoday.com/2012/09/26/did-you-buy-a-yearbook/. Book sales cut off in May and there are no extras ordered so make sure to get yours today before the price goes up and so you don’t miss out. There will be previews to the 2013 Excalibur yearbook on the FHNtoday Facebook page throughout the month of January so you can check out some of what’s to come. 1/31 Manfull

**Note to parents**- Fall practices start Monday, August 5, and all current 8th grade students (fall 2013 freshman) must have a physical before they can practice. To save time, please go to MSHSAA.org, and under the Sports Medicine tab, print and complete the ‘Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation’ form, and bring with you on this day. *MEETINGS FOR THOSE LOOKING TO BE ON NEWSPAPER, YEARBOOK, FHNTODAY.COM OR FHNTODAYTV NEXT YEAR – Applications to be a part of next year’s newspaper, yearbook, FHNtoday.com and FHNtoday TV staffs are out and due soon. Applications began being distributed Dec. 15. Applications for those wishing to be on staff are due Jan. 16. Applications will be due by 2:30 p.m. Applications must be handed to Aaron Manfull, journalism adviser, and a form must be signed noting that an application was received. There will be a couple meetings to answer questions and explain the process. The afternoon meeting will be Monday, Jan. 7 at 2:30 p.m. and the morning meeting on Tuesday, Jan.8. at 6:45 a.m. The meetings will be in room 026. Attendance is highly suggested and the meetings will begin promptly so they don’t run long. *GROUP PHOTO DAY – Group photo day has been scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 17 in the small gym. Group photo day will take place during hours 1-3. Group sponsors have been alerted and given a schedule of the day. The photos will be used in the 2013 yearbook and this will be the only group photo day we have for the yearbook this year. Students will need to get a pass from their sponsor to get out of class at the time they are scheduled to be photographed. Contact Mr. Manfull for more information. 1/16 Manfull

 

PARENT NEWS
Bringing food to school for Students-due to district policy, you may only bring in food for your student. Thanks for your help in this matter.

Parents should be mindful not to plan vacations or trips prior to May 31, 2013 (the last scheduled snow makeup day for the 2012-2013 school year). Second semester exams are given during the last three scheduled days of school.  Taking exams early (prior to the scheduled exam dates) is not permitted to insure the integrity of common finals. 5/31 Administrators

SENIOR PARENTS:  Help is NEEDED for the biggest All-Knighter fundraiser- the snack table.  We are in need of workers to assist our captains from 10 am to 1pm during lunches.  The work is not difficult, really only collecting money and restocking.  If we cannot staff the table we will not be able to continue to open it on a daily basis and the All-Knighter really counts on the income from this fundraiser.  Please help us if you are able.  We are in need of workers December 3-7, 17- 19th, and January 3-4.  Contact Kaye if you are able to help, [email protected]. 1/4 Gannon

Trivia Night – January 19, 2013
The Francis Howell North Band Boosters will be holding their 5th annual trivia night on Saturday, January 19. 2013. The event will be held at the VFW Post 2866, 66 VFW Lane, Saint Charles, MO 63303. All proceeds go to support the band programs at Francis Howell North High School to help offset costs for marching band, winter guard, winter percussion, concert band, symphonic band and jazz band for students. Doors open at 6:00pm and questions begin at 7:00pm. The is $160 per table, with a max of 8 players per table. Mulligans are available for purchase before the start of the first round. Prizes awarded to the top 2 teams. Adult beverages, soda, and popcorn will be provided. Outside food and non-alcoholic beverages are permitted. There is a limit of tables and many have already made their reservations, so sign up today to ensure your team can come enjoy a wonderful night of trivia, and give to a great cause!     FHN Registration Information Night

                               Students entering Francis Howell North High School

                                                        January 8th, 2013

                                          6:30 PM Meeting in Large Gym

Francis Howell North High School, 2549 Hackmann Road, will have a registration information night on Tuesday, January 8th, 2013.

Attendees are encouraged to park in the lower lot behind the school near the football field. There will be a general meeting for 8th grade parents and students in the large gym starting at 6:30pm. Following the general meeting parents and students from parochial and private schools will be asked to move to the auditorium for a presentation on high school requirements. A question and answer session will follow the presentation. New FHSD students can return registration packet if all forms are completed or bring them to the Francis Howell North guidance office by 1/14/2013.

Current Francis Howell North freshman, sophomore, and junior students along with their parents are also invited to meet with department chairpersons, counselors, and extracurricular activity sponsors from 7:00 to 8:30 pm in the small gym to obtain information about courses and programs. The Online Registration Portal is open from 1/14/12 to 1/24/12. Current FHN students must register online for the 2013-2014 school year. The Computer Lab in the Library will be open on January 22, 2013 from 5:30 to 7:30 if families do not have internet capabilities.The district website has a registration video that can be found on the home page at www.fhsdschools.org.
