This year’s Iron Chef competition was on Nov. 14, it began at 2:30 pm. Four schools competed to create the best food, Francis Howell North, Francis Howell High School, Francis Howell Central, and Francis Howell Union. Every year the Culinary Cook-Off has a theme, this year the theme was “Food Truck Bonanza,” and FHN’s food truck was called the Saucy Knight-chos, because all of their dishes were nacho themed. The teams of chefs had two hours to cook 4 dishes. When asked how he felt about the competition, this is what senior Alex Nelson had to say, “Everyone’s trying their best today, so I’d say they’re definitely bringing the heat.” Their dishes consisted of a chicken dish called Snap Crackle Cluck, fried cauliflower that they dubbed Cauli-poppers, seasoned potato wedges titled Give Me A Wedgie, and their desert dish was called Knight-Cho Mama’s Apple Pie. In the end FHN won not only the Chef’s choice award, given by the three guest chef judges, but also won first place overall. (Photos by Savannah Wandzel)
