Knightline performs while working to raise money for charities

While many teams and clubs around school raise money for themselves, Knightline is going above and beyond and doing charity work to help raise money for those in need as well.

“I think a lot of teams are in it just to dance,” Sophomore Alicia Delaney said. “We are in it for so much more, we like to help others.”

Soon the team plans on working and performing at a walk for autism on Oct. 13. The idea to participate in the event came from Delaney because her younger brother is autistic.

“It makes me feel good that other people want to help my brother too,” Delaney said.

In the past Knightline has participated in several charity events for diseases like cancer, Wheels in Motion, and Labor Ready; which is an organization for unemployed and sometimes homeless men which the team helps to collect necessities like socks for during the holidays. The team also raised over $1,500 for Katrina victims two years ago.

“Once I initiate it girls will come forward with ideas,” Coach Heather Hallvax said. “I usually don’t turn them down.”

According to Hallvax the team works to do at least one event a year, but they usually participate in several.

“It makes me feel really good to see the girls doing something positive,” Hallvax said. “They do fundraisers for themselves it’s nice to see them help others too.”
