On Nov. 1, North’s male and female cross country teams participated in Sectionals at Forest Park in downtown St. Louis. In the event hosted by St. Louis University High School, two of the seven female runners from North will be moving on to State as individuals, and North’s male runners will be heading to State as a team.
Senior Nick Happe placed first at Forest Park and will be going to State, along with his six teammates. Among the male placers are seniors Zach Schollar and Daniel Kirkpatrick who placed 30th and 28th respectively, and junior Jordan Summers who finished 18th. The three remaining runners moving on as part of the team are seniors Patrick Seeling, Thomas Curran and Matt Lane.
“I’m looking at the win [at Forest Park] as a sign that I’m at the fitness level I was hoping to be at,” Happe said. “As for State, I’m preparing the same way I have been since the first week of summer; though, this week, I’m cutting down my mileage and doing more speed-oriented [training.]”
As for the females, sophomore Coleen Grone and junior Dianna Prost finished 17th and 24th, respectively.
The State meet will be Nov. 8 in Jefferson City.
