Cyclones to High School Track

Stepping onto the track for the first time for your first track meet can be kind of scary for a freshman. But, not for Aurora Blanchard. Blanchard has been running for four years prior to being on the Francis Howell North Track team, she ran for an outside school team called the Cyclones.

“Running on the Cyclones prepared me mentally and physically for High School,” Blanchard said “running in meets on a track and cross country team before high school was good because, I already generally knew how meets worked. I was also not clueless and freaked out coming into high school.”

When running on the Cyclones, it is not the same as running on a high school team. On a high school team your team consists of only people from your school, and you race other schools. In Cyclones you race in your age category rather than JV and Varsity heats.

“Aurora did really good this season, she did a lot better than most freshman do their first year of high school track.” teammate Kelsey Roberts said.
