On November 16, five FHN students will be attending the Iron Chef competition at Francis Howell Central. This is North’s third year participating in the event. The event is against all three of the Francis Howell high schools. The students have about three hours to prepare five dishes and the dishes will not be revealed to the public until the day of the competition. Up to this point, the students have had eight practices, but there is a twist, the students will be given a secret ingredient that they must put into all five of their dishes.

“I’m sure it can’t be anything too difficult like fish eyes, they will be able to do something with it,” sponsor Rebecca Just said.

Each school got the chance to pick a theme. FHN’s theme will be “tropical”. Once the food is prepared, judges will get a plate of all the food and decide on the winner.

“It’s a fun and competitive way to do something I really like to do,” senior Charles Cantrell said.
