Volunteer Knights holds hat day

On April 21, Volunteer Knights will be holding a hat drive to raise money to be put toward esophageal cancer. During first hour, Volunteer Knights members will be walking from class to class collecting the $1 donations to wear hats. There will also be an option to buy a bracelet for $2.50.

The events that Volunteer Knights organize help organizations and people on the community in many ways. This hat day, the donations will be going to help the fight of esophageal cancer which is one of the deadliest cancers to have. Nearly all people that are diagnosed with this cancer pass away.

“I think this is a great cause and donating even $1 is a great way to help find ways to stop the spread of cancer,” junior and hay day participant Bobby Garner said.

Many weeks of preparation have gone into making sure everything is in place for the hat day.

“We have worked a lot after school to make this hat day go smoothly because it truly is for a great cause and anything we can do to help is a step on the right direction,” said Carson Echelmeyer.
