 *Students interested in Youth In Government should see Mrs. Chostner in Room 132 to pick up registration paperwork and Jefferson City Convention information as soon as possible. 9/14 Chostner

 Is becoming a TEACHER something you are considering for your career choice? If so, then Future Educators of America is for you! We are having an organizational meeting today at 2:30 p.m. and tomorrow at 7:00 a.m. in Commons 10 – Mrs. Coil’s room. (pick one meeting time) We welcome anyone who is thinking about teaching preschool, elementary, middle, or high school – any grade, any subject. Seniors, Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshman. Male or Female. Everyone is encouraged to join! We participate in several activities throughout the year including a State Convention, National Education Week, Read Across America Day, Teacher Appreciation Day AND your own personal fieldtrip to job shadow a teacher once a semester.  Homecoming ticket sales dates (remember all fines must be paid to purchase a ticket)
Sept. 12-22 Regular Sales ($20) only for North Students @ all lunches
Sept. 15-16, 19-20 Guest Ticket Sales ($20) before and after school in room 133.

Guest forms for the Homecoming Dance are now available in the main office and in the Stuco hall. They must me complete by September 20th. Guest tickets can only purchased from Mrs. Wilkens or Mrs. Grimshaw in room 133 BEFORE or AFTER school. 9/20 Wilkens

*Our last Picture make-up day is Tuesday, September 20. Pictures are taken for free for student IDs and the yearbook. All students are required to have a student ID. Herff Jones provides one free ID when you have your picture taken. If you did not have your picture taken during schedule pick-up or on our first make-up day on August 24 your last opportunity will be September 20. Please sign up in the main office to have your picture taken. Students who require a re-take because the pictures they purchased are bad can have their picture re-taken on this date also. You must turn in your old picture packet to the main office when you sign up for re-takes. Students please remember – you will not be called out of class to have your picture taken. You must go to class for attendance purposes and let your teacher know you are on the picture make-up list. Teachers will let you know what time you may go to the Auditorium. We will not be interrupting classes to remind students/staff each hour. Please remember your designated hour – Last names A to G 1st hour, H to M 2nd hour, N to R 3rd hour, and S to Z 4th hour. Only those students who have signed up will be allowed to go to the Auditorium. Any questions, see Mrs. Kearns in the main office. *On September 10, 2011, the Francis Howell North High School Knightpride Marching Band competed in their first two competitions of the 2011 season at the Belleville East Marching Invitational (Belleville East High School) and the Metro East Marching Classic (O’Fallon Township High School). At the Belleville East Marching Invitational, Francis Howell North High School was awarded first place in their division and was awarded caption awards for: Best Music, Best Auxiliary, and tied for Best Percussion. At the Metro East Marching Classic, the Francis Howell North High School Knightpride Marching Band was awarded second place in their division and was awarded caption awards for: Best Music and Best Auxiliary. 9/12 Moorman

*FCCLA will be having a meeting after school today at 2:45 in room 2. Please be sure to bring your membership dues to the meeting. We will be discussing fundraising activities and upcoming holiday activities. It is not too late to join, just come to the meeting and sign up.

Chem Club will be meeting in room 184 today before school (6:45 – 7:00 a.m.) and after school (2:30 – 3:00 p.m.). We will be playing with DRY ICE! 9/13 Hill

*Senior students will be participating in a college planning presentation through their language arts classes between the dates of September 6th and September 19th. They will be receiving several handouts at the time of the presentation, including a copy of the PowerPoint presentation. The same presentation is also available on the guidance office webpage, located on the FHN website. There will be two make-up presentations available for seniors to choose from, should they be absent on their assigned presentation date, or should they not have a language arts class this semester. These presentations will take place on Friday, September 23rd, during 2nd and 6th periods. Students can sign up to attend one of these presentations in the guidance office. Please contact Mrs. Vargas in guidance if you have any questions. 9/16 Vargas

*The scholarship deadline for the ACT Cambridge Review Program has been extended through September 26th. If you are interested in improving your ACT score, but need some help financing the $125 review class (offered for the December 10th ACT date), please pick up an application in the counseling office and return it with your Cambridge Review registration form by the new deadline (9/26). Contact Mrs. Vargas if you have any questions. 9/26 Vargas
