Driving is a dangerous privilege. These threats aren’t only in our neighborhoods, on the road or on the highway, they are right here in our school parking lot. We’ve had several minor accidents and wrecks, and it’s only the first month of school. A student was hit. What’s next? Things are getting out of hand.

Everyone can take some of the blame here- driving while eating a burger, talking on the phone, drinking coffee, texting, blasting music or simply not paying attention. But do we realize how dangerous it is? How taking our eyes off the road could harm others and ourselves? If knowing it’s dangerous isn’t motivating enough, just know that it’s a $500 to $1,000 fine if you get pulled over for distracted driving.

School is supposed to be a safe place for us, yet we manage to make it dangerous. FHN doesn’t need any more accidents. As we grow we acquire more privileges like driving, but all these privileges come with responsibility. We are driving. Remember that.
