The Winter Drumline and Winter Guard would like to invite you all to participate in a new fundraiser for our groups. During lunches students and teachers are voting on teachers that they would like to dress up (a hat) to represent themselves for Either Santa, Mrs. Claus or SCROOGE. It is a penny a vote so very easy to do. Votes may be purchased in the Cafeteria during all Lunches next week so vote to not get your name on the list. We can also have members pick up your votes also. We will be doing daily updates so you may see where you are ranked with in the school. I appreciate your enthusiasm and voting toward each other many times over. 12/9 Moorman Results Here are our top vote getters as of Wednesday: Santa Mrs. Claus Scrooge Next week (Dec 5-9) Volunteer Knights will be having a Toy Drive. We will be collecting toys for the Kindergarten class. So crayons, markers, clothes, toys, games, etc. Please make sure that the students know to bring only new or barely used items. The Toy Drive will be occurring in your seventh hour class and the winner wills receive a pizza party. Volunteer Knights will be collecting the toys after school on Dec 9th and Saint Joachim & Ann will be picking up these items the following week. Please inform your students about the Toy Drive. Thanks! 12/9 Voyles *All Sophomore students and parents are encouraged to attend the parent PLAN meeting, Tuesday, December 13, at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium. 12/13 Barker *FCCLA will be selling Santa Grams again this year beginning Thursday December 8th through Thursday December 15th. Santa Grams consist of a personal Holiday greeting card, bag of chocolates and a candy cane all for only $1.00 delivered to the recipient on Friday December 16th during 1st or 7th hour class. Don’t miss out on the giving this year and buy yours during any lunch shift next to the candy table or contact Mrs. Just in room 02. Santa Grams are a great way to spread Holiday cheer and let those special people in your life know you are thinking of them during thisHoliday season. 12/15 Just HELPING HANDS FOR THE HOLIDAYS Any and all needy families are invited to attend the Helping Hands for the Holidays on Thursday, December 15thfrom 4-7pm. No identification or proof of need is required. All who attend will receive the following free assistance: Free Holiday Dinner Buffet, Food and Personal Care Packet Distribution, Health Care Screenings and Services, Winter Clothing, Entertainment from the St. Charles Street Carolers, Free photos with Santa for all children, Games and Activities for children, Transportation from various points in Saint Charles County. The event will be held at the St. Charles Convention Center. School will dismiss at the regular time on December 19th, and at 11:25 on December 20th and December 21st. Students are not allowed to take exams earlier than the dates and times listed above. If your student is absent on any of these dates, please call the Attendance office at 851-5893 on the date of the absence. Student must also bring a written note when they return or when they take their final exam to excuse the absence. Students must arrive to class on time. Students will not be allowed to enter class late. Any late arrivals will be required to take their exam on the exam make-up days. Additionally, during final exams, we will not be able to call into classrooms or interrupt classes in any way. Any passes for early dismissal must be taken care of before the start of school with a note from a parent. Students may only leave at the end of class period. Students will not be able to leave at any time during a class hour. Students will only be called to the office in-between classes to pick up messages or anything else that may be dropped off by parents. Make-up final exams will be held on Tuesday, December 20th and Wednesday, December 21st from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m. and Tuesday, January 3rd from 8:00 to 2:00 p.m. Make up exams are held in room 218. Students may attend any of the make-up sessions – no appointment is necessary. Students must bring a photo ID with them in order to take their final exam. Students should bring at least TWO number two lead pencils or any other items that may be required for completion of exams. FHN now offers a new OPTIONAL INTERVENTION FORMAT to be held on half-day final exam days on Tuesday, December 20thand Wednesday, December 21st. As a part of this new program, the first exam of the day begins at 8:20 AM. Buses will be running on their regular schedule on both of these half-day exam days. If students choose to participate in the optional intervention format, they may come to school at the regular time (7:20 AM) and select one of the following options:
If a student chooses not to participate in the optional intervention format, they need to be at school and in class by the beginning of the first exam session at 8:20 AM. No parent note is required for any student who chooses to arrive to school by 8:20 AM. However, students who arrive late to class once exams begin will not be allowed to take the exam. *FHN Swimmer Patrick Fountain (Senior) has received a Scholastic All American award. To be named Scholastic All American, he had to meet the Junior National qualifying time, hold a GPA of 3.5 or higher, and be in the top 150 in the US for the event. 12/13 Janes

Come into the library and check out a copy today! 12/9 Stuerman *Chemistry Club: Our last meeting of the semester is next Tuesday, December 13 after school (2:30 – 3:00 p.m.) in room 184. We will be experimenting with more “magic” for our Henderson Magic Show. *Attention A+ Juniors…an A+ Tutor meeting is scheduled for Monday, December 12th from 2:30-3:15 in the Auditorium. This meeting is MANDATORY for any A+ Junior interested in completing his or her A+ tutoring/mentoring hours next semester. 12/12 Herman *Any sophomore or junior who is still interested in applying for Lewis & Clark Career Center for the 2012-2013 school year, please stop by Guidance to pick up an application. The original deadline of December 1st has been extended to December 16th! See Mrs. Faulkner with any questions. 12/16 Faulkner *Do you need A+ Tutoring Hours? Be a Senior Success Leader for the 2012-13 School Year! Are you a junior who still needs to complete your A+ tutoring hours? Do you have a GPA of 3.0 or higher? If so, have you considered being a Success Leader next year? Success Leaders work with freshmen in Knight Success classes and earn community service elective credit for doing so. Success Leaders may also use this experience toward A+ tutoring hours. Interested students should see Mrs. Voyles or Mrs. Herman for an application beginning December 12. 3/31 Voyles |
