*Online registration

A clarification on several points for your students’ online registration process for next year’s classes.  Over the last week, we presented this new, district-wide process to all students (through language arts classes).  In addition to the following points, please consult with your students about the information they received, along with the helpful handouts that were issued to them to assist them in this process.

  1.  All students should complete the following process:
    1. Review their newly-issued enrollment guide and consult with their honors letters (issued this week) and current teachers to select the courses most appropriate for them.
    2. Complete their Course Request Worksheet (OPTIONAL), as a “rough draft”/outline, to ensure they have selected enough courses to fulfill a COMPLETE seven-period day, along with four alternates.  Alternates are important, in the event that students do not receive their first elective choices.
    3. Log in to Infinite Campus and input their course selections.  Print course selections and have a parent sign the bottom of the print-out.  The deadline to register online through Infinite Campus is midnight, January 25th.
    4. Return signed Infinite Campus handout to language arts teacher (with honors letter attached, if applicable) on January 26th.

To log in to Infinite Campus, students need to do one of the following:

    1. If your student (or you) already has an Infinite Campus log-in and checks his/her grades regularly, he/she  can access Infinite Campus athttps://campus.fhsdschools.org/campus/portal/francis.jsp.  Your student will need to use his/her (or your) username and password that you use to log in to Infinite Campus on a regular basis.
    2. If your student (or you) has never logged in to Infinite Campus, he/she can access Infinite Campus at .  Your student’s username is his/her student ID number, and his/her password is his/her first initial, last initial and six-digit birthdate (i.e. kv101296).https://campus.fhsdschools.org/campus/portal/francis.jsp During our presentations this past week, we shared a tutorial video with your students that visually highlighted to them how to input their courses in to Infinite Campus.  You, as parents, can access this video as well at the following link:  . http://fhsd.sharpschool.net/parents/online_registration/

When registering their courses online, here are a few pointers that we shared with the students:

  • Any REQUIRED classes (i.e. History, Math, Science, English) will already be entered into Infinite Campus.  They will be listed under a “required courses” column in Infinite Campus.  Students will NOT be able to revise/adjust these classes.  If a student is placed in these required classes in error (i.e. wrong class, not placed in honors but should have been placed in honors, etc.), they will be able to remove/revise these classes when they meet with their counselors during individual advisement (see information about individual advisement below).
  • Students will be adding their elective courses (i.e. Band, World Language, Practical Arts classes, etc.) under a “requested courses” column in Infinite Campus.
  • Students will be adding their alternate courses (four total) under an “alternate courses” column in Infinite Campus.
  • Students were informed that they need to have a total of 14 course numbers(PLUS 4 alternates) entered in to Infinite Campus before they print their printout and have it signed by a parent.  14 courses numbers (one course number for each course, each semester) indicates that students have registered for a full, seven-period day.  NOTE:  the 14 course numbers INCLUDES the REQUIRED courses that are already loaded in to the students’ schedules.
  • Students have the capability to add courses to their schedules on Infinite Campus by searching for courses by name OR by searching for courses by course number.  We highly recommend students search and add courses by course number.  This will ensure they are selecting the proper courses, as each and every course has its own unique course number.

Starting January 31, we counselors will be meeting all students individually, to review their Infinite Campus printouts, to review graduation requirements, to ensure they have signed up for a full schedule and appropriate classes, and to answer any questions/make any necessary changes.  The individual advisement process will last through February 17. stth

  1.  Department chairs, coaches, club sponsors, and counselors will be available in the small gym on Registration Information Night (1/24, 7-8:30pm), to answer general questions.  Additionally, if you are in need of a computer and/or a printer to finalize the Infinite Campus course registration process, the computer lab in the library will be open on this night.  Counselors will be available to assist with this process. Please note: Have your student’s Infinite Campus log-in information ready for the computer lab assistance. Please refer to point #2 above.

In the event that students do NOT log in to Infinite Campus and register for their courses online , they are at risk of not getting the courses they need/want for the next school year.  We strongly encourage your students to take ownership of this process.  Please remember that we counselors will be available to support their efforts during individual advisement.before midnight on January 25th

We sincerely appreciate your patience throughout this new process and hope that you find these guidelines helpful.

Please remember to go online and complete your registration for the 2012-2013 school year.  Online registration closes at midnight on January 25th! 1/25 Faulkner

*FHN will be hosting an ACT Cambridge Review Program for the April 14th ACT date.  This program is intended for any sophomore, junior or senior student who desires to improve his/her ACT score for college admission and scholarship opportunities (completion of at least one semester of Algebra II is recommended).  The program meets every Thursday from 6-9 pm, for seven weeks leading up to the April ACT date.  Cost is $125, and seats are limited.  Applications/informational brochures are available in the guidance office; the deadline to register is Wednesday, January 25th.  Scholarship applications to assist with the cost are also available in the guidance office.  Please see/contact Mrs. Vargas in guidance with any questions.  1/25 Vargas
