The FHNtoday.com crew sat down with varsity starting pitcher Dustin Dalton for a small Q&A about his baseball career.
FHNtoday.com: How long have you been playing baseball?
Dustin Dalton: “Since first grade.”
FHNtoday: How long have you played on FHN’s varsity team?
DD: “This is my second year.”
FHNtoday: What is your favorite thing about baseball?
DD: “It’s a team game, so you have to work well with your teammates.”
FHNtoday: What is your favorite experience on varsity?
DD: “When we creamed CBC 12-2 last year after they won the state championship the year before.”
FHNtoday: What is your biggest accomplishment in your baseball career?
DD: “Either winning the Pattonville game in the district semi-final game last year or the in the all-star game when I retired 17 hitters in a row.”
FHNtoday: What things motivate you in your career?
DD: “All the negative comments and everyone that tells me that I can’t play baseball.”
FHNtoday: What do you do to ensure success?
DD: “I make sure I concentrate in and out of practices and make sure we can execute everything perfectly.”
FHNtoday: What are you most looking forward to this season?
DD: “Beating Howell and winning state.”
FHNtoday: How have you prepared for this season?
DD: “A lot of pitching lessons and our team workouts.”
FHNtoday: What s your goal for this season?
DD: “Beat Howell and beat Chris Volpo’s ERA record.”
