Jessica Moceri is a sophomore on the varsity girl’s basketball team this year. Moceri is a guard and is pleased with where she is now on the team.
“I think it’s just really cool that I get to start sometimes as a sophomore,” she said. “I guess I feel sort of accomplished because I get to play and occasionally start.”
Moceri got where she is now by putting in a lot of time during the off-season. She said that she went to the summer workouts offered by the team and tried to get the most out of it.
“I worked a lot on ball handling,” Moceri said. “Besides that, I just focused on improving my all-around game.”
Moceri, along with the team, has had problems along the way though. Not everything has gone as smoothly as they had hoped.
“Sometimes we had difficulties bonding, but we overcame those difficulties and played together well as a team,” she said.
Her hard work and the team getting together showed itself during the tournament hosted by Marquette. The team finished fifth and was proud of what they had accomplished.
“My favorite part of the season so far was probably the tourney at Marquette,” Moceri said. “It was the best we had done in a while and I felt like the work we put in had finally paid off.”
