Chiddy Bang, of “Opposite of Adults” fame, has released their first studio album, Breakfast. They have incredible potential that if executed correctly, can produce some really great songs. This is shown on “Mind Your Manners” and “Ray Charles”. However, they aren’t perfect. There is plenty of filler on this album.

When I hear “Handclaps and Guitars”, the first thing I think is that they were trying to recreate the success of “Opposite of Adults”. It’s got an almost identical flow and rhythm. The only problem is that the new track doesn’t have as catchy of a hook. It’s too easy to just lose interest.

“Mind Your Manners” has been one of my most played songs since I first heard it. It’s catchy, memorable, and upbeat. The song also presents a new concept in hip hop. Instead of just directly taunting the “haters” that apparently every rapper has, he says it’s okay to hate, just make sure to “Mind Your Manners”.

“Ray Charles” is another awesome song. It has an incredibly catchy piano and sax hook, that is complimented by a memorable chorus. Not much else is to be said other than it’s a really fun and energetic track that makes you want to dance.

“Run It Back” is a track with a lot of bombast. The kicks are heavy, and frontman Chiddy raps with aggression. This is interrupted by a weak chorus with little energy at all. This one definitely shows that the group has a lot of potential, but failed to finish the job.

‘Talking to Myself” is another rather catchy song that has all of the same good qualities of “Mind Your Manners”. It has an interesting yet catchy hook that keeps you listening. “This Is Happening” and “Roulette” have that same formula. Excellent production around the hook that keeps you interested.

Like I said, Chiddy Bang have excellent potential. I hope to hear more from them in the future. This album, receives a 4 out of 5.
