With the end of the year approaching, planning for next year’s mentor program will kick into high gear. The mentors must attend one of the three meetings to be a part of the program. The three meetings will take place on April 30, May 3 and May 5. Each meeting will be two hours long and will allow next year’s mentors to get to know each other and will help them learn about the program.

Anne McPartland, the mentor program’s sponsor, believes that the meetings are a look at how well next year’s mentors will do. She is hopeful that they’ll take away a better concept of what will be expected of them next year.

“I hope [the training] helps them have fun and a have better understanding of what they will be doing,” said McPartland.  “I also hope that they understand the level of commitment required to be a mentor.”

Sophomore Anthony Starks is looking forward learning what he needs to know about being a mentor during the training.

“I think the training will help me because I’ll be able to use what I learn to give the freshmen a better high school experience.”

Junior Marissa Finkbeiner looks forward to being a part of the mentor training and is excited to work with next year’s freshmen.

“I’m looking forward to being a mentor because it’s fun to be around all the freshmen, and it’s a money opportunity for college.”
