Senior Awards night is Wednesday, May 16 starting at 6:30 pm in the large gym.  Seniors who have received written invitations should make plans to attend.  Formal dress is appreciated.  Family and friends are invited to join in the celebration of achievement and scholarships for the class of 2012.  Practice for senior awards night will be held in the auditorium on Wednesday, May 16 during homeroom.  Seniors attending Awards Night should report to homeroom for attendance and then proceed directly to the auditorium for practice. 5/16 Woodrum

SENIOR COOK OUT AND MOVIE NIGHT- Tickets will be on sale beginning today, during all three lunches, for any senior wishing to attend the cook out and movie night on the football field. Tickets are $2.00 and must be purchased in advance; the deadline to buy your ticket is Wed, May 16th.  The event will take place on Friday, May 18th beginning at 6:30 and will last until 10:30. We will be having a cook out and “senior Olympics,” followed by a movie on an outdoor, inflatable movie screen. See any senior class officer, or Mrs. Smith, for more details. KISS A SENIOR GOODBYE –Senior class delegates will be selling “Kiss A Senior Goodbye” messages beginning today during all three lunches. All messages will be accompanied by a small bag of Hershey kisses and will be delivered Friday morning, May 18th. Messages can be purchased by anyone, including seniors, underclassmen, staff members and family members; the cost for each message is 50 cents and can be purchased through Wednesday, May 16th. 5/16 Smith

The last day to serve a regular detention is Thursday, May 17.  The last day to serve a Saturday detention is May 19.  Students who do not serve their detentions by these dates will receive an out of school suspension during the last week of school and therefore need to take one or more of their finals during make-up exams.  5/17 Kearns

PARENT NEWS
Bringing food to school for Students-due to district policy, you may only bring in food for your student. Thanks for your help in this matter.Meetings – We have1 meetings left, Mondays at 6:30 in room 160….  May 21.  Please join us even if you haven’t been to a meeting before! 5/21 StepanekFINAL EXAMS are May 22nd (1st, 2nd, and 7th hours), May 23rd(3rd and 4th hours), and May 24th (5th and 6th hours).  School will dismiss at the regular time on May 22nd, and at 11:25 on May 23rdand May 24th.  Students are not allowed to take exams earlier than the dates and times listed above.  If your student is absent on any of these dates, please call the Attendance office at 851-5893 on the date of the absence.  Student must also bring a written note when they return or when they take their final exam to excuse the absence.  Students must arrive to class on time.  Students will not be allowed to enter class late.  Any late arrivals will be required to take their exam on the exam make-up days.  Additionally, during final exams, we will not be able to call into classrooms or interrupt classes in any way.  Any passes for early dismissal must be taken care of before the start of school with a note from a parent.  Students may only leave at the end of class period.  Students will not be able to leave at any time during a class hour.  Students will only be called to the office in-between classes to pick up messages or anything else that may be dropped off by parents.

Make-up final exams will be held on Wednesday, May 23rd and Thursday, May 24th  from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m. and Friday, May 25th  from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Make up exams are held in room 218.  Students may attend any of the make-up sessions – no appointment is necessary.  Students must bring a photo ID with them in order to take their final exam.  Students should bring at least TWO number two lead pencils or any other items that may be required for completion of exams.

FHN continues to offer the OPTIONAL INTERVENTION FORMATto be held on half-day final exam days on Wednesday, May 23rdand Thursday, May 24th.  As a part of this program, the first exam of the day begins at 8:20 AM.  Buses will be running on their regular schedule on both of these half-day exam days.  If students choose to participate in the optional intervention format, they may come to school at the regular time (7:20 AM) and select one of the following options: Students may come to school at the regular time (7:20 AM) to receive additional academic interventions with one of their teachers. (teacher pass is required)

  • Students may come to school at the regular time (7:20 AM) and study in one their teacher’s rooms to help prepare them for one of their upcoming final exams given on either half-day schedule. (teacher pass is required)
  • Students may come to school at the regular time (7:20 AM) and study in the library for any upcoming exams.(library pass is required)
  • Students may come to school at the regular time (7:20 AM) and eat a hearty, healthy breakfast in the commons until 8:15 AM.

****If a student chooses not to participate in the optional intervention format, they need to be at school and in class by the beginning of the first exam session at 8:20 AM. No parent note is required for any student who chooses to arrive to school by 8:20 AM.
