Danielle Meyer

The FHNtoday.com crew sat down with Varsity Pole Vaulter  Danielle Meyer for a small Q&A about her track career.

FHNtoday.com: How long have you been doing track?

Danielle Meyer: I have been doing track since my freshman year.

FHNtoday.com: What events have you participated in for track and field?

DM: My freshman and sophomore year I ran the 4×800, 1600, and did pole vaulting, and in the past two years I just participated in pole vaulting.

FHNtoday.com: What was your favorite event that you participated in and why?

DM: Pole vaulting is my favorite because it is an individual sport and you can see how your hard work pays off. Pole vaulting is the only sport I look forward to going to practice every day because we work hard, but at the same time we have a lot of fun doing whatever we want.

FHNtoday.com: What was your favorite experience that you had while doing track?

DM: My favorite experience was getting third place in districts this year and making it to sectionals. The past two years I got fifth place in districts and It felt good to finally make top four.

FHNtoday.com: What do you do to ensure success?

DM: I work hard at practice and do everything I can to keep getting better. Even after practice is over I do conditioning and sprint workouts on the weekends or after I go home.

FHNtoday.com: What is your Personal Record (PR) for this track session?

DM: For pole vaulting I have made ten feet in a meet and ten and a half feet at practice.

FHNtoday.com: What are you looking forward to in the next couple weeks remaining?

DM: I’m looking forward to hopefully going to state. It’s been my goal for the past three years so it’s kind of a big deal.

FHNtoday.com: What is the height you are hoping to achieve at sectionals for pole vaulting?

DM: I hope to jump ten and a half feet so that can be my official PR, but jumping eleven feet is my dream.

FHNtoday.com: What motivates you to achieve your goals?

DM: I enjoy coming to practice every day and when I think about how much work I have put into the sport it makes me want to prove that it’s all paid off.
