Students must register by Oct. 10 to vote in November election

On Nov. 6 FHN senior Greg Reinhardt will be one of approximately 2 hundred thousand registered
voters heading to the polls in St. Charles County.

“It’s important for Americans to vote because the founding fathers gave us that right and as Americans
we’re obligated to use that right,” Reinhardt said.

Likeminded seniors must register to vote by 5 p.m. on Wednesday Oct. 10. Perspective voters must be
17 1/2when they register and 18 when they vote and be a legal resident of the United States.Eligible students can register at libraries, public schools, and the DMV. Interested seniors should request more information from the main office.

“It’s part of your civic responsibility to vote,” FHN social studies teacher Zach Fettig said. “It’s part of
being an American citizen.”

The polls will open a 6 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Voters must remove any t-shirts, hats, or pins with the likeness of their candidate within 25 feet of the polling place.

“I think it gives people a reason to express their voice to the government,” Reinhardt said. “I just believe
it’s something people need to get into.”
