On October 18, The Maine and Mayday Parade, alternative bands known throughout America, played at Lindenwood’s homecoming with local band Equal Squeeze. The 7:30 p.m. show was open to the public for $15.

“It was a great way for the bands to expand their fanbase and the tickets were surprisingly cheap for such high-end bands,” Senior Miata Walker said. “Lindenwood should do that more often.”

The show was held in the Evans Commons Gym and doors opened at 7 p.m. Due to the concert being on a school night, some people had to attend sports games or club meetings before going to the show.

“I didn’t like being in such a rush and having to go to the concert with nasty hair and being sweaty, but it didn’t really matter because all I cared about was seeing Mayday Parade,” Sophomore and Varsity volleyball player Genna Perry said.

The concert ended at 10 p.m. and some attendees didn’t get home until 11 p.m. or later.

“It sucked because I had two tests the next day that I never got to study for and I was extremely tired the next morning,” Perry said. “But, all in all, it was worth it because I got to see my favorite band for the first time since summer and I got to meet them all afterwards.”

The turnout for the concert was around 1,500 people, but according to Senior and avid concert-goer Meghan Wood, the show was even more fun because of all the energy. According to Wood, the best part was seeing Mayday Parade play.

“I’d seen them previously but it was nothing like being in front row, singing every single word with them, and being there with so many people that are as passionate about them as I am,” Wood said.
