This past Friday the Francis Howell Vikings and Francis Howell North Knights played each other in the 22nd annual Gold Cup hockey game. The final score was 8-6 with the Knights coming out on top with the win. This was a very big game for the Knights.

“This was probably the biggest game I’ve played in since I started playing hockey, it was pretty nerve racking going into the game,” Junior Tony Mudd said.

According to some of the players, there was about 500 to 600 people there to watch the Knights and Vikings square off. Considering most of the fans were from North it was very helpful for the Knights to have most of the fans cheering for them.

 “Since there were so many people there cheering for us it gave us the confidence to go out there and win and it also gave us the energy to play better,” Junior Kyle Kateman said.

Even though the Knights have lost a lot of players from last year they still feel that they can overcome it and have another good season. The win during Gold Cup has given them confidence going into their next game on November 5 against Chamanade.

“This game shows us how much and what we need to work on, but also it should give us momentum going into the next game,” Kateman said.
