On October 27, Knightpride took on the challenge of competing in two competitions in one day. The band performed their show

“Journey” against more than 40 bands.

The first competition was held at Francis Howell High. Knightpride was the first band to perform. After they performed they quickly got onto the bus and traveled to Pinckneyville, Illinois for their second competition of the day.

“It was really difficult to do two competitions in one day, we felt really rushed,” Guard member Lauren Arata said.

When they arrived at Pinckneyville the band quickly unloaded and got ready to perform once again. Before they performed, director Jeff Moorman informed them that they had received best music, best guard, best percussion, and first place at the Howell competition.

“The best part about the day was winning first in our division, and overall first place,” Flute player Kristen Griffin said.

While in Pinckneyville the band also performed in their first ever parade. They received second place in the parade.

“The hardest part of the competition was the parade, holding my instrument for so long and being perfect,” Griffin said.

Overall, the band had their most successful competition of the season. They went home with one first place title, one second place title, a Grand Championship, and a $600 cash prize.

Knightpride ended their season on a great note, and look forward to being just as successful next season.

“Overall I think we did very well, we swept both competitions,” Drum Major Stephen Marriott said.
