Missouri Tri-County Regional Science and Engineering Fair
The Missouri Tri-County Regional Science and Engineering Fair (MTRSEF) will be held at St. Charles Community College in the College Center Building on Saturday, February 23, 2013. Registration for MTRSEF will be available online by the Building Science Fair Representative and will begin after February 1 and close on February 13. Students in grades K-8 are invited to have their project judged at the fair in one of four categories: Biology, Physical Science, Chemistry and Applied Consumer Science. Student in grades 9-12 are invited to have their project judged in one of four categories: Biology, Physical Science, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Computer Science. *FHN offers the OPTIONAL INTERVENTION FORMAT to be held on half-day final exam days on Thursday, December 20th and Friday, December 21st. As a part of this program, the first exam of the day begins at 8:20 AM. Buses will be running on their regular schedule on both of these half-day exam days. If students choose to participate in the optional intervention format, they may come to school at the regular time (7:20 AM) and select one of the following options:
Students may come to school at the regular time (7:20 AM) to receive additional academic interventions with one of their teachers. (teacher pass is required)
Students may come to school at the regular time (7:20 AM) and study in one their teacher’s rooms to help prepare them for one of their upcoming final exams given on either half-day schedule. (teacher pass is required)
Students may come to school at the regular time (7:20 AM) and study in the library for any upcoming exams.(library pass is required)
Students may come to school at the regular time (7:20 AM) and eat a hearty, healthy breakfast in the commons until 8:15 AM.
If a student chooses not to participate in the optional intervention format, they need to be at school and in class by the beginning of the first exam session at 8:20 AM. No parent note is required for any student who chooses to arrive to school by 8:20 AM.
However, students who arrive late to class once exams begin will not be allowed to take the exam. Late students will need to take the exam they missed during the makeup exam schedule. 12/21 Grippi
*FINAL EXAMS are December 19th (1st, 2nd, and 7th hours), December 20th (3rd and 4th hours), and December 21st (5th and 6th hours). School will dismiss at the regular time on December 19th, and at 11:25 on December 20th and December 21st. Students are not allowed to take exams earlier than the dates and times listed above. If your student is absent on any of these dates, please call the Attendance office at 851-5893 on the date of the absence. Student must also bring a written note when they return or when they take their final exam to excuse the absence. Students must arrive to class on time. Students will not be allowed to enter class late. Any late arrivals will be required to take their exam on the exam make-up days. Additionally, during final exams, we will not be able to call into classrooms or interrupt classes in any way. Any passes for early dismissal must be taken care of before the start of school with a note from a parent. Students may only leave at the end of class period. Students will not be able to leave at any time during a class hour. Students will only be called to the office in-between classes to pick up messages or anything else that may be dropped off by parents.
Make-up final exams will be held on Thursday, December 20thand Friday, December 21st from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. and Wednesday, January 2nd from 8:00 to 2:00 p.m. Make up exams are held in room 218. Students may attend any of the make-up sessions – no appointment is necessary. Students must bring a photo ID with them in order to take their final exam. SENIOR PARENTS: Help is NEEDED for the biggest All-Knighter fundraiser- the snack table. We are in need of workers to assist our captains from 10 am to 1pm during lunches. The work is not difficult, really only collecting money and restocking. Trivia Night – January 19, 2013 The Francis Howell North Band Boosters will be holding their 5th annual trivia night on Saturday, January 19. 2013. The event will be held at the VFW Post 2866, 66 VFW Lane, Saint Charles, MO 63303. All proceeds go to support the band programs at Francis Howell North High School to help offset costs for marching band, winter guard, winter percussion, concert band, symphonic band and jazz band for students. Doors open at 6:00pm and questions begin at 7:00pm. The is $160 per table, with a max of 8 players per table. Mulligans are available for purchase before the start of the first round. Prizes awarded to the top 2 teams. Adult beverages, soda, and popcorn will be provided. Outside food and non-alcoholic beverages are permitted.
