Tornado Warning Disrupts School Activities

stormOn Jan. 29, tornado sirens went off after school, forcing students into the middle of the school. Many students were still at school for things like clubs, activities and sports practices.

“It was annoying,” senior Ashley Butterfield said, “I was trying to get important things done and I keep getting interrupted. I know it was for my safety but it still got annoying.”

There was a tornado watch for the St. Louis and St. Charles County  until 8:00 p.m. that day. During the tornado watch, sirens went off a total of  three times with in just one hour during the storm.

“I was out on a run with my cross country friends,” junior Clayton Kohler said. “We were about four miles from school and we had to get back as fast as we could because we were running in a big storm.”

Students in the middle of their sports practice had to stop their practice and wait to continue.

“I got very frustrated because it made it difficult for me to be training during the tornado warnings,” sophomore Andrew Shannon said.

Lots of student were in the gym early for the basketball game, but they were forced to go into different places in the school.

“I was waiting for the basketball game to start when the tornado warning went off,” Freshman Jennifer Byman, “So I had to go somewhere else and wait to go back to the gym.”
