An Unforgettable Night in Vegas Prom Preview

With just eight weeks left before Prom takes place on April 20, final decisions must be made by the Junior Delegates. According to President Caitlyn Gardner, favors still need to be decided and decorations and centerpieces still need to be finalized.

“The hardest part has been centerpieces and favors because it’s really had to get the look that we want with the budget that we have,” Delegates member Kayla Stratmann said.

Because the Delegates are not given a budget from the school or PTO, the group must raise money through ticket sales and fundraising. Early bird tickets were on sale Feb. 11-15, and the Delegates sold 248 tickets. Monday, March 4 is when the next round of tickets go on sale for $60. After that, tickets will be sold for $70 from April 2-5.

“I was kind of surprised that more people didn’t buy early bird tickets,” Delegates member Maddie Hiatt said. “But I think since people know the tickets are going to be on sale next week that more people will be buying them.”

This year’s theme being “An Unforgettable Night in Vegas.” The girls came up with the theme after brainstorming and researching what other schools had done. When they couldn’t decide between three themes, “An Unforgettable Night,” “A Fairy Tale Night,” and “A Night in Vegas,” they had the student body vote during lunches. “An Unforgettable Night” and “A Night in Vegas” tied, hence the current theme.

“I want all of the other students to be very surprised whenever they walk in because I think this is a theme that definitely stands out–something never done before,” Junior Delegates Secretary Adriana Condren said. “I hope they like it and are surprised.”

The Delegates are working hard to finalize decoration plans. According to Condren, they are making sure that Prom is exactly what everyone wants. Gardner hopes that the music and decorations are what set this year’s Prom apart from any other.

“I hope they get a long-lasting memory of high school Prom and have a great time,” Gardner said.

Prom will be held at the St. Charles Convention Center. Dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. The dinner choices include: boursin stuffed chicken, beef flat iron steak and a vegetarian option of mushroom ravioli. Each meal includes a garden house salad, sides of garlic mashed potatoes and a seasonal vegetable medley, chocolate layer cake and access to the soda bar.
