FHN’s intensified theater classes are putting on their very own show at North on Friday March 1 in the auditorium. The show starts at 7 p.m. and doors open at 6:30 p.m. where tickets will be sold for $4.

“I think this year’s show is going to be a success because we have a good cast and excellent student directors,” Jeff Tandler said, the teacher of the intensified theater classes.

The plays that will be performed are Brother’s Grimm: Out of Order (a collection of parodies) and The Southfield Stories (a modern twist on the Canterbury Tales). Two short plays are being performed this year due to Tandler having two intensified theater classes.

“I like the fact that there are two plays instead of one,” Elise Gertsch said, a sophomore and student in one of the intensified theater classes. “ It gives the show more variety which might entice more people to come and watch it.”

Tandler picked these particular plays due to having such large casts.

“Both of the plays that I picked looked like something that not only would the audience enjoy, but the kids performing it as well,” Tandler said.

This show is entirely student run and self-supporting club. All of the money that is raised through the production of shows goes back to Drama club.

“Money is not the only reason we want people to come,”  Gertsch said. “We want people to come so that they can enjoy themselves and see how all of the work that we put in pays off.”

Preparation for the show was all done in class. All of the work put into preparing for the show started at the beginning of the second semester. The intensified theater classes have been working since then to make the show a success.

“We have put in a lot of effort this quarter into making this show a success and more enjoyable for the audience,” Gertsch said.

According to Tandler and members of the show, this year’s show is going to be a success and they are looking forward to it.

“A good show is not always about the storyline of the special effects,” Gertsch said. “It’s about the crew putting in their best effort and having fun with it. If the audience can see that, then they will enjoy it and that’s exactly what our show provides.”
