Senior NHS Meeting

At their meeting on the the morning of Sept 27, Senior NHS discussed topics for the upcoming dates and events they would participate in. One project they talked about was an opportunity to volunteer for some outdoor work. On Sep 28, members of the club had the chance to go to Brommelstick Park  to do some landscaping. They planted trees and replanted some older ones to give the park a new look and also help the environment.

“Planting the trees will help us realize that small things like planting trees go a long way in beautifying and helping the community,” member Nathan Mills said.

Another topic they talked about was their participation in Trick or Treat Street. Members of the club will have the option to decorate cupcakes or paint faces. They can also choose to decorate the area where they will be set up for their activities. As a group, they decided that they should dress up in costumes, but no scary outfits will be allowed because the night is mainly for children in the area.

“I’m most excited about decorating cupcakes because I like to bake and decorate cakes. I’ve always liked to bake since I was seven,” member Mary Jane Ruiz said.

At teacher conferences on Oct. 8-9, they will be set up selling senioritis t shirts for $10. The shirts are being sold to raise money for the NHS Scholarship that will be given out at the end of the year. The group will also be handing out water and cookies to all of the parents and students as well as the teachers to make the extra trip to school a little more pleasurable.

“Selling t-shirts is a good idea because it’s something people would enjoy and spend their money on, ” member Kelsey McIlroy said.
