Hall of Fame Press Release

Francis Howell North High School is proud to announce, Chris Woods, class of 1991, into the 2014 “FHN Athletic Hall of Fame.”  The induction ceremony will be onFriday, January 17, 2014.  The induction will be at approximately 6:45 pm at Francis Howell North before the Varsity Boys’ game vs. Timberland.

Chris played basketball at Francis Howell North for 3 years. During that time, he had a career 437 rebounds, averaged 9 rebounds per game, averaged 18.8 points per game in the 90/91 season.  Chris Woods is the Howell North single season record holder for blocked shots with 162.

After his high school playing days, Chris was a 4 year letterman at Vanderbilt University where he started 2 out of his 4 years.  As a freshman Chris held Shaquille O’Neal to his lowest point total his last year of college but lost a tooth in the process.  In 1993, the Commodores finished with the best record in school history and were crowned SEC champions.  They advanced to the sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament that year and in 1994 they were runners up in the post season NIT in Madison Square Garden.  By the end of his career, Chris was second in school history for blocked shots and is still 4th on Vandy’s all-time list.  He still holds the Vanderbilt record for dunks in a game with 9.

Currently, Chris is VP of sales for a real estate investment firm.  Chris is married to Kierstan.  Chris, Kierstan and their daughter Sarah live in the Washington DC area. 1/15 Janes
